Join us at LIMS® as we step into spring season with an in-depth classes based on the work of early Somatic pioneer, Irmgard Bartenieff (1900-1981) and her Fundamentals of Movement. Her revolutionary work developed as a practicing physical therapist emphasizes movement exploration work that supports each individual in their own personal embodiment of fully expressive dynamics efficient functional integration. Each 75 minute class will focus on one of the four overarching themes: Stability/Mobility; Inner/Outer/ Exertion Recuperation or Function and Expression. Our teachers are all Certified Movement Analyst trained at the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies.
Bartenieff Fundamentals is not a system of set exercises. It is an approach to basic body training that deals with principles of anatomical body function within a context that encourages personal expression and full psychophysical functioning as an integral part of total body mobilization.
