Morning Class with Mina Nishimura

March 6-27

Mondays 10am-12pm

MR@Eden's Expressway

537 Broadway

In this class, we will engage in a series of somatic, breath and movement practices which reflect some principles of Zen, butoh and Noguchi Taiso. Through those practices, we will discover a way to liberate our body from a sense of self in order to facilitate unprecedented transformation and evolution of the body.

Mina Nishimura, from Tokyo, was introduced to butoh through Kota Yamazaki. She’s been fortunate to work and collaborate with inspirational artists, in most recent years with Neil Greenberg, SIA, Dean Moss, Vicky Shick, Nami Yamamoto, Ursula Eagly and Kota Yamazaki. She’s been an Artist-in-Residence at Brooklyn Arts Exchange in 2011 and Chez Bushwick in 2013 and was a 2013 Movement Research Artist-in-Residence. Her most recent work has been presented by Danspace Project. She has been teaching at universities and for various communities.
