Nia & Ness Present: 'run.'
run. is an evening-length, dance-poetry story of two, black, out-lesbian women in a committed relationship, who navigate the daily struggles and joys of life in NYC. Nia & Ness invite the audience to enter their world as observers, listening in on their intimate, strong, and loving conversations about and influenced by their identities. They hope those experiencing run. will bring what they've learned into their own lives and interactions with others across various and intersectional backgrounds.
run. is Nia & Ness's first evening-length work and will be accompanied by all orginal music created by Garrett Miller.
Doors open at 8pm and the audience can experience the pre-show pop-up exhibit created by Nia & Ness in collaboration with Moth Dust, Muhammad Floyd and Emanie Antonette. The exhibit will set the tone for the entire evening, bringing you deep into the intimate and safe space of Nia & Ness, even including items from the duo/couple's home.
The performance will start at approximately 9pm. The show is 1 hour and 12 minutes long with a 15 minute intermission.
runners (student tickets): $15.00
sprinters (general admission): $20.00
This work was created in part with a space grant from BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange with support from the New York State Council on the Arts, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
