This class will be a Salsa/Son with Live Music!
We will be working on moving the entire body with rhythm, while the rhythm is played live by pro musicians!Concepts of the Cuban Torso, feeling and attitude, not just steps!
We will have our body awareness and isolation exercises, followed by across the floor, then Salsa/Son footwork with essence and rhythm, and partner-work! No Partner Necessary!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS
The Sabrosura Effect is a Latin fusion dance company formed by Beatrice Capote and Miguel Aparicio. Ms. Capote is a Cuban-American professional contemporary dancer immersed in Modern, Ballet, Jazz, Salsa, and Afro-Cuban dance techniques. She trained at Alvin American Dance Center and has traveled all over the world with prestigious choreographers such as Matthew Rushing (Alvin Ailey Company Member, dance companies like; INSPIRIT, a dance company, Areytos Performance Works, and Kyle Abraham/ Abraham. In. Motion. She is currently dancing and touring with Camille A. Brown and Dancers. She is a graduate of The University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Montclair state University with a BA in dance education. She is currently in graduate school completing her MFA in Dance from Montclair State University. She is faculty at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Joffrey Ballet School, and Montclair State University teaching jazz, modern and world dance (specifically Afro-Caribbean dances). She recently went to Cuba to study with prestigious masters of Danza Contemporanea de Cuba and is also working with Yesenia F. Selier (a Cuban performer and educator). With her contemporary background and her Cuban roots, she gravitates towards both genres to navigate through storytelling and history.
Mr. Aparicio is a Texas born Mexican American; who trained in dance at The University of Texas at Austin and completed a B.A. in Biology. He worked with two professional Latin Contemporary dance companies: “Aztlan Dance Company” and Modern Dance Company “Ballet East” from Austin, Texas. In New York City, Mr. Aparicio continued his education in dance styles, such as Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, Hip-hop, and Tap. In addition, he specializes in Authentic Latin styles such as Cuban Rumba, Cuban Folklore, Popular Cuban dance, New York Style Salsa and partner dancing and lifts. He has worked with professional Latin Dance Companies in NYC, and has traveled bi-coastal and international to perform. Miguel also studies percussion in Cuban Rhythms. His most recent training comes from a three-week study of music and dance in Havana, Cuba. He had the privilege to study under the Cuban Grand Master of Artistry Santiago Alfonso and with Master Cuban Rumbero Barbarito Ramos, who comes from a Rumba family Dynasty Los Munequitos de Matanzas.
In combining their professional background, “The Sabrosura Effect” fuses a stray of Cuban folkloric and popular dance, NY Style Salsa on 2, and Contemporary movement to their repertoire. “The Sabrosura Effect” has an array of classes that focuses on Cuban Rumba, NY Salsa on 2, and Partner based work. The focus is for the public to learn the brief history of these genres while conditioning the body with these Latin Rhythms and Dance. We would like for the public to feel the spicy, innovative, and energetic flares that unify the community into a safe and fun space!
