Calpulli Mexican Dance Company

 

Mission Statement

Calpulli Mexican Dance Company’s mission is to celebrate the rich diversity of Mexican and Mexican-American cultural heritage through dance-based programming including live music. To this end, the organization produces professional performances via its touring company; Arts-in-Education and cultural enrichment programming; and community outreach activities that are free or low-cost and target the underserved Mexican and Mexican-American community.

Program Statement

Community classes in dance and music are led by Calpulli’s Teaching Artists and hosted at professional dance studios in Queens, Staten Island, Red Bank (NJ), and New Rochelle. The program, for both children and adults are focused on folkloric dance and musical traditions of Mexico. The training incorporates lessons in history, fundamentals in dance and music, teamwork, and supports a healthy, active lifestyle. The program is by voluntary donation for youth and low cost for adults. Everyone
