Contract Researcher/Analyst
Webb Mgmt, a management consulting firm that provides research, planning and advisory services for arts and culture, is in search of a researcher/analyst. This is a three-month contract position with potential for growth into a permanent role.
The Researcher is principally responsible for project-specific data collection and organization, including a combination of primary and secondary research. To accomplish this, the Researcher works with project managers to understand, define and document research needs pertaining to particular projects. The Researcher applies qualitative and quantitative techniques along with writing and organization skills to collect, interpret and report information to support studies and plans for clients.
Responsibilities:
Communicating with project managers to understand research assignments and tasks
Formulating plans and conducting data collection, organization and some analysis
Creating visuals to summarize and illustrate research findings
Writing narrative to describe research processes and results
Example research tasks:
Identify a long list of edge city cultural districts located in or near markets similar in size and characteristics to Denver. Narrow the long list with the project manager and then write three to four paragraphs that describe the components and impacts of these districts on their communities.
Develop an inventory of all of the facilities that host live performance 4 or more times per year in the 30-mile radius surrounding Cleveland, Ohio, collecting detail on activity, physical characteristics and condition, including criteria defined by the project manager. Summarize the findings and implications in a 4-5 page narrative report with charts, graphs and maps.
Using data sources provided by the project manager, organize and summarize demographic data within provided primary, secondary and tertiary market segments, focusing on characteristics associated with arts participation. Include charts and graphs that compare characteristics between segments and show trends.
Qualifications:
Experience in data gathering, organizing, analysis and visualization
Lived and learned knowledge of research practices, fundraising, financial management, marketing, organizational operations, and/or planning for the arts
Experience in the arts sector
Analytic and problem-solving skills, including the ability to create and follow processes for effective collaboration and timely work completion
The ability to work independently and effectively manage deadlines for multiple project managers
Arrangements:
Remote only. Hourly rate commensurate with experience. Potential for growth.
Flexible hours though some daytime hours are required.
