Artistic Director

 
Calpulli Mexican Dance Company is searching for candidates for a permanent Artistic Director position.

Job Title:             Artistic Director
Reports to:         Board of Directors
Job Purpose:      To develop, maintain and enhance the repertoire of Calpulli Mexican Dance Company in line with its mission
  
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.       Design and implement short and long-term artistic development plans
2.       Assures consistent, professional quality, artistic integrity, and growth of the company
3.       Trains and develops dancers with appropriate style, technique, and repertoire
4.       Direct rehearsals and day-to-day artistic development
5.       Leads technical and production preparation at company performances and tours
6.       Supervises artistic personnel
7.       Acts as a spokesperson for Calpulli’s artistic purpose
8.       Fosters relationships with other arts and culture organizations and individuals
9.       Liaises with artistic personnel including associates and musicians
10.   Attend regular planning meetings with staff
11.   Work within established budgets and time constraints
 
 Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following:
·         Over 10 years of combined dance training in multiple dance forms
·         Will have a strong background in Mexican traditions in movement and music
·         Will have demonstrated experience in an artistic leadership position
·         Have experience with dance ensembles and ensemble-building
·         Convey a vision for the value of traditional/ folkloric Mexican dance to an immigrant community and a general audience in the United States
·         Knowledge of all theatrical elements in productions
  
Compensation:
·         Annual stipend for rehearsals and meetings
·         Additional compensation per project, performances, and tours
