FLICfest 2012 Submissions Open. Deadline August 22.

Happy July! We want to invite you to submit work to FLICfest 2012...

FLICfest 2011 was a huge success. FLICfest 2012 promises to be even more exciting and we want you to be a part of it! This year, we will add a series of classes and panel discussions focused on self-producing in NYC and making feature-length work. Submission guidelines can be found here: http://www.flicfest.org/

All choreographers interested in submitting their work for FLICfest 2012 are required to attend one of the three available sessions. Info sessions will cover submission requirements, selection criteria, festival policies and a walkthrough of the performance space, along with time for questions. Submissions from choreographers who have not attended an info session will not be considered. If you would like to submit, but attending an info session is impossible, please contact jeramy@flicfest.org.

Remaining info sessions will be held on the following dates:
Monday, July 18, 2011 at 6:30pm
Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 12:00pm

All sessions will be held at the Irondale Center, 85 S. Oxford St., Brooklyn.

FLICfest submission deadline is August 22. Performances are January 19-21 and 26-28, 2012. Each selected piece will be performed once during the festival.

Each evening of FLIC Fest is made up of two feature-length dance theatre works followed by an informal performance cabaret in the balcony lounge. Over the course of two weekends, we will present 12 choreographers, each with one performance slot.

We are working to uncover the most interesting and innovative evening-length work that New York has to offer. Work should be 50-60 minutes in length; new and existing work is welcome. Basic lighting design is included in the tech, but if you have an existing design we will use it as the space allows.

I hope that you will consider submitting your work to FLICfest 2012. Submission guidelines can be found at www.flicfest.org. If you have any questions, please contact me atjeramy@flicfest.org.

FLICfest aims to bring great performance to a new audience as well as create a strong sense of community and a forum for the exchange of ideas among independent choreographers. We look forward to hearing from you.
