APRIL WORKSHOP SERIES / LISA FAGAN

Women with brown hair wearing red pants and a navy tank top. She is in the middle of gesturing a question with her hands. Marielle Solan

Class Description

We will make dance that implodes an idea in order to fracture the rules and regulations that constitute the conventions of our world. In this class, we will return to the body, sharpen its sensitivity and dexterity, so we can use it in service of ideas. APRIL FAILSPACE is a hybrid class series incorporating improvisation, score making, flash composing, lightning-speed editing, group work, and organizing chaos. This class focuses on dynamic specificity- specificity within the body and within a world in which the idea and choreography are inextricably bound.

What is FAILSPACE?

FAILSPACE is a process-based workshop series led by a monthly rotation of emerging artist faculty. The workshops are held 12:00-2:00 PM on the first four Sundays of every month at Arts On Site. FAILSPACE is a platform for emerging artists interested in live performance to grow their teaching practice among peers. FAILSPACE is founded on the belief that as a community, we can recognize the creative processes of our peers as a resource for the diversified and rigorous training that our community not only wants but deserves. Moreover, FAILSPACE supports the early career artist by valuing their creative process with ample space, time, and money.

$60 per month / $17 per class
