The Dance Enthusiast

French Artistic Director/Choreographer Brice Mousset explores the OUI DANSE award- winning first piece Travailler in an hour long re-envisioning : WORK!

WORK!: a propulsive piece inspired by the testimonies of burned out players in the circus of the business world.
As success infiltrates and pollutes, WORK! shows the loss of humanity with grotesque elegance, bold movement and a theatrical sensibility. WORK! follows its characters journey through the circus of the business world’s competitions, compulsions, masquerades and the desperation to escape.  Combining irony, exaggeration and raw emotion, the choreography creates a world of reckless movement, technical bravura and the deceptive simplicity of pedestrian movement.

About Brice Mousset | OUI DANSE:

OUI DANSE:  A challenge to the body, a dare to the imagination, a reconnection with humanity.  OUI DANSE in French, means “yes dance”. “YES” for positivity,  OUI / “WE”   for universality.

Brice Mousset, founder, artistic director, and choreographer of OUI DANSE was born and raised in Paris, France, where he studied Biology and Human Sciences at Nanterre University before falling into the world of dance. After an eclectic performing career in Europe in musicals, operas, TV and dance companies, Mousset moved to New York City, founding OUI DANSE and choreographing for Broadway Bares, Broadway Cares/Equity Fight AIDS, and such dance institutions as SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, The Ailey/Fordham BFA, Point Park University, Broadway Dance Center, and the Joffrey Ballet School. Mousset has choreographed for and performed with Christine Dakin and was chosen by Mr. Robert Battle for the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation New Directions Choreography Lab.

Mousset’s first work for OUI DANSE, “Travailler”, was Reverbdance APAP award winner for Best Choreography and Audience Favorite. The company performs extensively at venues such as Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival Inside/Out Series, Riverside Dance Festival, Danspace Project at Saint Mark’s Church, Luminaria Arts Festival, and Dancers For Good Festival. In France, 2019, at the invitation of Pierre François Heuclin, OUI DANSE will perform at Vaison Danses International Dance Festival and will be in residency at Lachapelle Saint Marie invited by Abou Lagraa.
