May I Dance On Your Screen? is a digital dance exhibition that explores how dance inhabits online space. Free for public viewing from Oct 1 - Dec 31, 2021 at Digitaldance.space

They are choreographed by international choreographer and media artist Rourou Ye, whose work incorporates dance movement, shadow puppetry, projection, and technology. Ye innovatively crafted these five works exclusively for the digital world in order to create visceral, virtual performances that move audiences emotionally while forging interpersonal connections, even though viewers are experiencing the work behind their own screens. Ranging from playful to wistful to heartbreaking, Ye’s works also reveal the challenges of her Chinese immigrant experience in the US.

Additional special event: Wendy Perron, Dance Magazine’s esteemed former editor-in-chief, will speak with Rourou about her work and questions about the interconnections of physical dance, screen life, and audiences on Oct 8 via Zoom, see detailed info on the website.
