Toulmin Fellow Brianna Mims
In partnership with The Center for Ballet and the Arts at NYU
A Toulmin Fellow from our season-long collaboration with the Center for Ballet and the Arts at NYU, model, dancer and activist Brianna Mims brings together fashion, dance, advocacy, and healing for positive change. This season, through intimate compositions of dance and music, she focuses on the body as a poetic and political site of liberation.
Brianna Mims is an artist, abolitionist, and facilitator from Jacksonville, Florida, based in Los Angeles. She has trained and performed in many different dance forms for several years. Her work – which spans across the disciplines of fashion, dance, advocacy, facilitation, curation, and direction – is rooted in self and cultural explorations, healing, and shifting culture alongside policy to create sustainable change. She experiences the body as a site of liberation and uses that information as a guide for organizing, facilitation, and all of the art she creates. Mims is a graduate of the University of Southern California where she studied Dance and NGO’s and Social Change. She currently works for Californians United for a Responsible Budget and is a Toulmin Fellow.
