Representing an organisation named JUNTOScollective which uses dance to break boundaries, I will be hosting a workshop with Adam Barruch to fundraise for my captsone project where I will be teaching dance at women's safety centers in Oaxaca, Mexico. The details for the workshop are as follows:

7:00PM-8:30PM at The Ailey School.

and be taught by the incredible Adam Barruch! 
His movement explores the complex coordination between forceful initiations, speed and the retention of a supple and resonant expressivity. 

This masterclass is especially unique because we will be exploring ideas of religion, gender and sexuality within dance. We will draw on the ideas of how some dance is used to tell stories of mythology using gestures and how the relationship between gender and sexuality is of no more importance when playing roles of gods and goddesses. 

The class is $15 at the door and is a fundraiser for my JUNTOSAmbassador project which seeks to expose women in Oaxaca, Mexico who have been victims of domestic violence and/or mistreatment to a month-long education in dance that aims to empower them through movement and helps them expand the limitations of their bodies. Dance allows people to use their bodies as tools that can foster physical strength, social connections and creativity in an environment of fun, positivity, and enjoyment. This, in stark contrast to what they have previously been through, will remind them that their body is their own and allow them to make independent choices. A donation of $10 can cover my expenses for one entire day in Oaxaca including travel to and from La Casa de La Niña and DIF - Atención a mujeres both of which are safe homes that I will be teaching at. A donation of $50 can provide costumes for all of the women and girls for a final performance.
