Mise en Danse is a one-day choreographic project. The artists of Haven Movement Company will lead dancer/choreographers through a collaborative creative process intended to quickly generate movement material that they will shape over the course of the day-long workshop into a 6-10 minute dance work.  The completed work will be performed at Small Plates Choreography Festival on October 6 and 7, 2018 at Triskelion Arts in Brooklyn, NY.

This event is open to strong contemporary, modern, post-modern contemporary dancer/choreographers who are confident creators and generous collaborators. Since we will be creating the entire piece in this one six-hour workshop, participants must be present for the entire workshop, and for both performances of Small Plates Choreography Festival, as well as technical rehearsals on the day of the performances (starting at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and 2:00 p.m on Sunday.)

Dancer/choreographer participants will be expected to bring two paid patrons ($18-$22 per ticket) to each performance in which they are performing.

There is no stipend for this opportunity, however dancer/choreographers participating in Mise en Dance will be offered a fee waiver ($20) to apply to present their own choreographic work at Small Plates Choreography Festival (the same festival at which they would be performing), and a $30 credit towards their production fees if their work is accepted. All work to be considered for Small Plates should conform to the festival requirements (see www.smallplatesdance.com/apply) and choreographers will be held to the same expectations as other Small Plates accepted artists, including presence at technical rehearsal times, and submission of information by the deadline dates.
