Join Bonnie Oda Homsey, Chair of Dance for The Princess Grace Foundation USA, and Founding Director of LA Dance Foundation, in a three-hour workshop to boost your career. As former principal dancer with Martha Graham Dance Company and Artistic Director of American Repertory Dance Company, Bonnie has experience as both a professional dancer and director, learned the benefits of effective business and grantsmanship practices in the dance field. She also draws on her decades of experience serving on panels including NEA’s Dance Panel, Challenge America Fast Track, and American Masterpieces, NEFA, California Arts Council, L.A. County Arts Commission, and Department of Cultural Affairs/City of L.A.

Working professionals refresh their operational and management skills, strategic planning, infrastructure resources, and competitive grant-writing skills and appropriate project budgets.

Bonnie Oda Homsey is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Practice teaching a dance management and entrepreneurial course at USC/Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, and Special Faculty at California Institute of the Arts teaching similar courses for MFA and undergraduate students.   She is Founding Director of Los Angeles Dance Foundation(www.LADanceFoundation.org) established in 1978 to cultivate awareness of dance legacies and to strengthen capacity of dance professionals.  As Artistic Director of American Repertory Dance Company, LADF’s performance entity from 1994-2004, she curated reconstructions of 40+ rarely-seen modern dance masterworks.  Since 2000, she is Chair of Dance for The Princess Grace Foundation USA, which awards grants in Theater, Dance, and Film.  A former principal dancer with the Martha Graham Company under Ms. Graham, Bonnie performed on Broadway, toured domestically and internationally, originated roles in works with Rudolph Nureyev and Dame Margot Fonteyn, and was featured in episodes of ‘Dance in America’ and ‘Life from Wolftrap.  Her writing include The Evolving State of Dance in Los Angeles published by Center for Cultural Innovation, Matrix of the Artist and Archivist’s Duet for the Dance Heritage Coalition, and Issue Editor for the journal Choreography and Dance, “Perspectives on the Healthy Dancer.”  Bonnie joined the inaugural freshman class when The Juilliard School relocated to Lincoln Center, later receiving a B.A. from University of Hawaii, and M.F.A. from University of California, Irvine where she was the Chancellor’s Fellowshiprecipient.
