The Playground NYC allows dancers to experience various choreographic styles and ideas, engage with a new community of dancers, and gather resourceful information and inspiration from the array of choreographers involved. In turn, established choreographers are paid for their creative investigations, are given free space to explore new movement with professional dancers, and are provided with the opportunity to establish relationships with new dancers and fellow choreographers.

BIO

Verónica Gregorio is a creator, teacher and dancer from Argentina. She trained in jazz and contemporary technique since she was a child and then, as a young adult she began to explore deeply into theater studies, modern jazz and contemporary languages.

In 2008, she founded Full Dance, one of the biggest dance schools in Argentina. She is not only the director, she teaches 9 classes per week for the professional programs of the school and leads the school's dance company - Full Dancers Group, with over 80 dancers.

Veronica created the Contemporary Dance Lab in 2015, her own dance company Wandel in 2017, and this year became the Director of Breaking Tango Dance Company.

In the last 6 years she premiered 13 original dance plays many of them reposed. Working as a dance creator and teacher, she has developed her own dance language. Her dream is to share her dance language with as many dancers as she can.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

This Modern Contemporary class will be a unique mix of Contemporary, Modern Jazz and Dance Theater technique.

Inspired by figures like Alvin Ailey, Pina Bausch, Martha Graham and Ohad Naharin, Verónica has developed her own dance language as the result of dance company work, research and experimentation.  The workshop will offer dance tools, but also an opportunity for each dancer to explore within themselves. The 3 hours class will have an intense warm up, technique and research work with space and partner recognition; finishing with choreography mounted with the resources explored during the class.
