What is Wise Fruit?

Wise Fruit, curated by Brinda Guha, is an artistic showcase dedicated to the feminine divine. All proceeds go directly to Planned Parenthood Action Fund of NYC.

Come join us for the Winter WF event: "Praising Love". Sip on top-shelf beverages, nibble on fresh fruits, network with the live arts community, enjoy world-class performances by NYC choreographers and artists, and open meaningful dialogue to plant seeds of action.

Curator Statement:

In times like this, I was trying to find a way to participate in tangible activism as a member of the artistic community. I wanted to create a space where "art meets activism". Our last showcase, held in October 2018 at the Cielo Nightclub in Meatpacking District of Manhattan was a beautiful sold-out success as it's sixth run. In the spirit of continuing/adding on to the seasonal quality of the event, I wanted this showcase to embody the winter time, the dialogue of release to invite renewal, the need for resetting and refocusing our collective energy, and the feminine appreciation we could all use in times like now where women's rights, health, and ideas are being threatened. Our theme "Praising Love" represents our willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue while exemplifying the many powerful facets of love as a concept: love of our ancestors, our siblings, our parents, our children, the love in romance, the love of nature, the love of God or a higher potential & most importantly, the practice of self-love.

I heavily curate this show to be exactly what it should be: artists who can produce work that yields action. I am fiercely dedicated to the mission of Planned Parenthood, and this is my humble way of "planting seeds" of activism. Every element of this event can be seen as a seed of action: the food and drinks provide nourishment during dialogue, the music births organic movement, the artists produce creative ideas through storytelling, and the audience provides the energy needed to create accessible change. I will be keeping the showcase to a small but incredibly empowering cast, and it's my desire to invite you to be a part of this collective, the Wise Fruit family. I hope you will join my hands in creating this kind of dialogue in our very own artistic community.

See you on February 11th at The Salon at Hudson Terrace!
