Message to all NYSCA Applicants

May 4, 2012

Dear Grantees and Applicants,

We have news to share and hope that these emails to update organizations and artists on the work of the Council and the 2012-2013 grant program continue to be helpful.

Last week the Council met and approved the guidelines for the 2012-2013 grant program. Next week we will be posting the guidelines on the web site. While we do this, you may use the following link to view/download them as a PDF file:
http://www.nysca.org/public/email/guidelines/NYSCA_2012-2013_Guidelines.pdf

Please be mindful if you are printing out this file that it is almost 400 pages long.

When the on-line application portal opens it will remain open for five weeks. We expect the work to be completed and the portal opened no later than Monday, May 14, 2012. A memo will be sent to the field when the portal opens.

To assist grantees and applicants, we will post this letter and the guidelines on the agency web site. Visit http://www.nysca.org/public/home.cfm to review these documents and prepare for the submission of your grant requests. Please do not delay in working on the CDP Funders Report and updating the information in the organization profile. This work can be completed at any time.

This year, the Council is participating in a new grant program through the Regional Economic Development Council, REDC. Last year this program made grants in excess of $750M to ten regions in the state. The Council is very pleased to have an Art Project Grant program with an allocation of $4M. The minimum grant award will be $50,000. Applications are welcome from single organizations or partnerships. No regrants or capital project requests are permitted. There are other threshold requirements that are made clear on the application.

We hope to receive many Art Project Grant applications from all corners of the state. Arts and culture projects are significant and strong economic drivers and catalysts for building and maintaining strong and vibrant communities. This is an exciting and valuable opportunity for arts and culture organizations in New YorkState. Please see the very new report from the National Governor’s Association: New Engines of Growth Five Roles for Arts, Culture and Design. The report is available at the following url and deals very directly with the goals of the REDC program:

The REDC Art Projects grant applications are NOT subject to the two application limit at the Council and the applications will NOT be made on the Council web site, but through the Consolidated Funding Application, CFA, on www.nyworks.ny.gov. Please visit that site and see the CFA resource guide to learn about the Art Project grants.

Thank you all for the work you do to promote, present and support the state’s citizens and visitors having access to art activities and services throughout New York State.

Sincerely,
Lisa Robb, Executive Director
