JComm Alumni Profiles: Alexandra Pinel
As Dance/NYC's Junior Committee reaches its ten year mark, we are catching up with our incredible alumni to hear about their recent accomplishments and perspectives. Today, we're hearing about Alexandra Pinel's work from the stage to the public radio waves.
Brief bio:
I am a choreographer, performer for Susana Cook, and jack of all trades for luciana achugar--but spend my days working full-time at WNYC, my other lover.
Working on now:
I am currently working on an upcoming show I have late march (which is half dance/talk show) at QED and Vital Joint, rehearsing for Susana Cook's show at Jack in April, helping luciana with all her kickass projects and some other very excited things in radio.
Years on JComm:
2012-2016- holy shit- THAT'S A WHOLE COLLEGE CAREER.
One valuable take-away from your time in JComm:
I am eternally grateful for the space and time to connect deeply with other dance people and the friendships I made through that experience.
One change you wish to see made in the NYC dance community:
I just wish that we had more space(s) and funding. And that we connected more with non-dance people about our work.
If you had a super power, what would it be?
That I could teleport to Paris, my home, on the week-ends.
