FOREVER (premiere)

VIM VIGOR's FOREVER VIM VIGOR

VIM VIGORs work lives in the electric space between theater and contemporary dance. The company depicts worlds where the existing logic of time and space is questioned, always with a strong focus on the surreal inner life of the individual.

VIM's work is anchored to an object or environment, which becomes the basis for the creation: in SEPARATI a phone booth, for FUTURE PERFECT a campsite deep in the woods, and now with FOREVER a wedding reception in the basement of a church.

In FOREVER, a spare wedding reception becomes a surreal weigh-station, where characters assess the meaning and value of their desires. The wedding is over and a new chapter is beginning, in which a multitude of conscious and unconscious urges collide. The bride and groom are not from the story of one couple, but from the mythology surrounding marriage, and in scenes that fly into and out of physicality, these figures appear at once admirable and despicable, as touched by the magic of love, and as lost, disconnected, and doomed. We get the sense that the world is going to let them down, and recognize their futile and heroic attempts to make it fit their plans.
