Purchase Dance Company Spring Performance at New York Live Arts

On May 22 through May 25, New York Live Arts (NYLA) will present the Purchase Dance Company in a diverse program showcasing established and up and coming choreographers, including work by five female choreographers.

Members of the Purchase Dance Company are selected from the college's highly competitive Conservatory of Dance BFA program at Purchase College, SUNY, which, according to the New York Times is “one of the country’s most highly regarded dance conservatories.” The Company will perform Ana Maria Lucaciu’s Helium, Roderick George’s Unprotected Set, and Bettijane Sills’s Songbook.

The Company has the distinct advantage of working closely with some of today’s most groundbreaking choreographers.  Two graduating seniors will perform solos choreographed or re-staged for them by guest choreographers. Kristina Diaz will perform an excerpt of Blush by Andrea Miller, and Symara Williams will perform Loose Cage, Blue Rib by Jasmine Hearn. Kristina Diaz will also present her own work entitled That Part of the Day When.

“We look forward to presenting our talented students and performing these challenging and exciting pieces. Our students’ training and exposure to classic, contemporary, and cutting-edge choreography uniquely prepares them for successful careers with a wide-range of companies,” said Nelly van Bommel, Director of the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College.

Performances will take place at New York Live Arts on Wednesday, May 22, Thursday, May 23, Friday, May 24, and Saturday, May 25. All performances will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $25. Student and senior tickets are $15.
