Reconstructing Rangoli: Growing through the Immigrant Experience
Join us for "Reconstructing Rangoli: Growing through the Immigrant Experience"-- an evening of poetic, musical, and movement-based interpretations of immigrant stories. Inspired by Pavana Reddy's enchanting book, Rangoli, this performance will feature the brilliant story-teller herself, reading curated selections of her work, as South Asian musicians and dancers bring her words to life.
Through Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Fusion, Violin, and Mridangam, we will depict the stories of our families and bring themes of identity, forced assimilation, and community to the stage. To capture the resilience of immigrants and the essence of creating home, this performance will weave together the stories of a womxn and a seed, as they fight to grow, put down roots, and blossom into themselves.
We are hosting this performance to support legal aid for families and unaccompanied youth separated and detained at the border.
