Mission Statement

The mission of Heidi Latsky Dance (HLD) is to redefine beauty and virtuosity through performance and discourse, using performers with unique attributes to bring rigorous, passionate and provocative contemporary dance to diverse audiences. 

Program Statement

From innovative proscenium works like the seminal GIMP (2008) to its current public art installation ON DISPLAY (2015), HLD strives to dramatically expose us to nuanced images of diverse bodies. HLD began in 2001 and has presented pieces in major venues like Lincoln Center, The American Dance Festival, The Whitney, Dada Fest, CREA Conference, The Kennedy Center, High Line, Skirball Center, Summer Nostos Festival, and additionally at Google and TedxWomen. Artistic Director Heidi Latsky has given lectures at Chicago Humanities Festival, Barnard and Harvard. HLD consistently creates works with and for people with disabilities as a physically integrated company that also includes those of differing sizes, ages, and genders. Through performance, film, public art, discourse, and education the company engages many populations in its rigorous aesthetic.
