NYC Dancers: Open Call, Table of Silence Project 9/11

Audition dates: Tuesday, August 21, 7:45 pm and Wednesday 9:15 pm Steps on Broadway

Dance/NYC is proud to partner with Buglisi Dance Theatre, The September Concert, and the NYC dance community on The Table of Silence Project 9/11, a ritual dance movement for peace to commemorate the 11th anniversary of September 11, 2001, and give voice to all those suffering oppression and the tragedy of war. “… a gift of dance to the city.” (Pia Catton, Wall Street Journal) This free, public tribute will take place on the Josie Robertson Plaza at Lincoln Center on Tuesday morning, September 11, 2012.

Conceived by choreographer Jacqulyn Buglisi and Italian artist Rosella Vasta, the work presents an opportunity for our community to gather and, through the universal language of movement, offer a transcending prayer for the City and the world transformed by the events of September 11. Participants will include dancers from Buglisi Dance Theatre, The Juilliard School, the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance, The Ailey School, National Dance Institute, STEPS on Broadway, Ballet Hispanico, Broadway Dance Center, and Peridance Capezio Center and Ensemble.

Open Call/Audition for Dancers: Must have Stage Experience
Tues., August 21: 7:45 to 10:00 pm
Wed., August 22, 9:15 pm to 10:30 pm
Thurs., August 23: 7:45-10 pm: Call back/rehearsal and meeting for all current and former participants
Steps on Broadway, 2121 Broadway at 74th Street
Up to 100 dancers will be selected
