Looking for one dancer

David Appel (www.youtinydancer.com) is looking for an additional person to be part of his current small group project, toward performances this spring in New York City.

We will be rehearsing twice weekly, starting the week of February 18. These will most likely be split between weekday afternoons and evenings.

This work embraces a variable mesh of set and improvised material. We're looking for a mature, articulate mover who improvises well (alone and with others), is open to expanding the range of their dancing in sometimes curious and unconventional ways, is willing and able to investigate a variety of performative qualities, and is comfortable with the ebb and flow of process as an underpinning for creating dances--all of which are key to how we're working and what we're working on. [Note: realistically this means that someone should probably have at least several years of professional experience beyond college/university.]

There will be a stipend for each performance.

We will be holding a dancing session for an invited group of people during our rehearsal on Wednesday February 13 from 6:00-9:00pm. This will be an opportunity to become familiar with some of the building blocks of the current work and to dance with us, so that we can hopefully find a person who's the right fit.

If interested, please reply to appel_audition@verizon.net no later than February 12, with a one-page resume or background summary (with dates) attached. If your combination of training and experience seems like a possible match, the 2/13 rehearsal location will then be sent to you.

Thanks.
