Women in Dance Summer Showcase

 
Legros Cultural Arts invites female choreographers to submit works in progress for our Women in Dance Summer Showcase. The showcase is open to the public and is designed to provide choreographers with an opportunity to receive feedback on a works in progress. In addition, there is a 15-20 minute Q&A between choreographers and the audience. If you are interested in participating please respond no later than July 20, 2013 to secure a slot in the showcase. Please send us an email and include title of work, length, performers and brief description. Email all submissions to:womenindance11@gmail.com We have scheduled two showings and you are welcome to participate in one or both. However, please keep in mind that this is a first come first serve process There is no participation fee for choreographers, Showcase Dates & Times July 27, 2013 7:30pm (call time 6:00pm) 15 slots available July 28, 2013 3:30 pm. (call time 2pm) 15 slots available Location: DANY Studios Address: 305 W 38th Street Studios 1 &3 FAQ Length of work: Between 3-5 minutes Music: Please have all music on CD. Costumes: Not necessary, however we recommend. It helps the audience get a greater understanding of the work. Props: Not necessary but if the piece requires please bring them. We find that it helps the audience to get a greater understanding of the work. When responding please provide us with a description of piece, title and names of performers. Who will be in the audience? Diverse group (not all will be from the dance world) What is the Women in Dance Project: It is part of the LCA Women in Arts Series and it is designed to provide female choreographers with an opportunity to create a new work that is later staged at Ailey Citigroup Theatre. During the creation process the choreographers will meet monthly to receive guidance, feedback and or comments from one of our dance mentors. Former mentors included: Debbie Allen, Sidra Bell, Camille Brown, Gus Solomon, Dr. Renee Reddick, Monica Bill Barnes.......
