Opportunity for Contemporary Dance Choreographers

Artis, a 501c3 nonprofit art organization that broadens international awareness of contemporary art from Israel, is seeking a contemporary dance choreographer with experience working with non-dancers to participate in a two-week artist project in November 2013.

The project, which consists of an exhibition and performance series that merges contemporary art, therapy and theater, will take place at Affirmation Arts, a contemporary art venue in Manhattan from November 12-23, 2013. It will be presented as part of Performa 13, an internationally renowned visual art performance festival in New York City.

The selected choreographer will work closely with the artist, an improv performer, and two professional psychotherapists to lead 10 nightly performances (Tuesday through Saturday, 7-8pm). In each session, the choreographer will work with a group of five audience members at a time.

Participation includes a few preparatory meetings with the artist in mid-September and early November.
