Dancing Classrooms New York City Accepting credentials for 2014 Teaching Artists Dancing Classrooms is a social development arts education program teaching ballroom dance to children during their school day. Our mission is to build social awareness, confidence and self-esteem in children through the practice of social dance. Our work is featured in the documentary Mad Hot Ballroom and in the feature film Take the Lead. Dancing Classrooms Teaching Artists: are actors, dancers, individuals who can move with rhythm; have excellent interpersonal skills; love kids; are able to work in a team and in a classroom; have a generous spirit, a sense of humor, of language, of rhythm; are willing to travel within NYC’s 5 boroughs. You will be fingerprinted with NYC DOE upon employment. Requirements: Applicant must be available to attend unpaid training from November 18-22 (5 days of 8 hour a day training); make a solid commitment to a sequential ten week residency two – four days per week in a school during the hours of 8am and 3pm. Training commitment is non-negotiable, please do not apply if you’re unable to commit to attending training. We are particularly looking for: Staten Island and Brooklyn residents with a car and Bronx residents.
