Front Desk Assistant at Mark Morris Dance Center

Reports to: Operations Manager

Start Date: ASAP

The Mark Morris Dance Center, home to the Mark Morris Dance Group, The School, Rental & Outreach programs, and a Wellness Center, is seeking two 5-10 hour per week part-time Front Desk Assistants. This is an entry-level position with an emphasis on customer service. A flexible schedule is a must.

This position serves as the first point-of-contact to almost 2,000 Dance Center visitors each week and provides support for our daily programs and services.

 

A successful candidate will be personable, patient, and able to operate and respond in a rapid-fire environment while maintaining a high standard of customer service to all MMDG constituents.

MMDG is looking for someone who complements the hard-working, friendly, and supportive environment at the Center.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Work in tandem with the Dance Center Operations and School staff to serve as a liaison between students, renters and staff Communicate information on all MMDG programs, classes and services to visitors Answer MMDG telephone line and route calls as necessary, troubleshooting visitor requests Work with new and current MMDG studio renters to manage studio rental check-in, process payments, and assist with their day-to-day needs Assist with inquiries and process registrations for Children/Teen classes Oversee Adult class sign in Maintain front desk security including a visitor sign-in log for all vendors, staff guests, and Wellness Center clients Accept incoming mail and packages to the Center Open and Close the building Serve as a Fire Guard for the Dance Center

 

Qualifications:

One year of customer service and administrative experience preferred First-hand experience working in an artistic discipline is strongly preferred Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to adapt to frequent changes Ability to work a flexible schedule, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends Interest in working with our community (kids, adults, and seniors from 2 to 92 years old) Mature, polished, polite, friendly manner Proficiency with MS Office and experience with web-based software required Experience working with electronic scheduling and point of sale software a plus Well organized, strong attention to detail, and ability to multi-task Strong and concise communication skills, both oral and written Ability to act with diplomacy and patience under pressure Extremely reliable and dedicated Willingness to complete Fire Guard Certification test and basic first aid/CPR training Compensation: $11/hour Free dance classes at the Mark Morris Dance Center Access to subsidized studio rental rates Access to the Wellness Center
