Disabilities and NYC Dance -Request for Research Proposals

Dance/NYC requests proposals for independent contractors to produce both an assessment of accessible dance programs and facilities in the metropolitan New York City area, and of the role of people with disabilities in dance audiences and the dance workforce; and action-oriented recommendations.

The report is the primary deliverable for the first year of a three-year initiative, Disabilities and NYC Dance, to advance inclusivity in dance and provide people with disabilities with increased access to the art form. Additional initiative deliverables, for which the contractor will make recommendations, include leadership training, networking, and convening; and online information resources.

Applicants should have demonstrated success in project management and research and, ideally: expertise in both disabilities and arts and culture work; and familiarity with proposed data sources.

The researcher will be accountable to Executive Director Lane Harwell. Applicants should submit proposals to Mr. Harwell (lharwell@dancenyc.org) no later than May 9. These should include: relevant background and research samples, a fee structure, a schedule of deliverables, recommendations for data sources, and planning methodologies and tools based on the draft scope of work.

Priority will be given to early applicants. Dance/NYC plans to contract with a consultant no later than June 1 and, ideally, to complete the project by December 2014.
