Seeking Men and Women- The Battle of Central Park

Seeking Men and Women- The Battle of Central Park

The Battle of Central Park

Seeking men and women for new original play with dance, especially interested in performers with strong musical theater training. Roles will include speaking and dancing. Performers of all ethnic backgrounds strongly encouraged to audition. This will be a non-equity production, and a stipend will be provided for all performers.

Weaving history with original text and movement, "The Battle of Central Park" explores the contradictory and captivating relationship of two public figures both possessed by power and a love of New York City. The ideological zeal of Joseph Papp and the dominant structuralist power of Robert Moses are brought to life on the stage through the expression of the human body. Equal parts memory play and historical drama, The Battle of Central Park tells the fascinating story of these two iconic and divisive men through a lens of imagination and wonder. This is urban sociology with a flare for the theatrical.

Written by Andrew Massey, Choreographed by Annalisa Ledson & Original Music and Sound Design by Mark Van Hare. Directed by Jamie Watkins, Produced by Theater 4the People.
