Bryn Cohn + Artists seeks a responsible, experienced and committed Director of Development to join our executive team. 

Hailed as “groundbreaking, primal, graceful, flowing effortlessly, surreal and supernatural” (Brooklyn Buzz), Bryn Cohn + Artists has boomed on the New York dance scene and quickly gained recognition for their emotionally pioneering and risk-taking performances.  The company has performed in premiere venues including Danspace Project, Ailey Citigroup Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Judson Memorial Church, The Center for Performance Research, 92nd Street Y, Abrons Arts Center, Baruch Performing Arts Center, Salvatore Capezio Theater, Manhattan Movement and Arts Center and in collaboration with the contemporary art galleries Foley Gallery and Castle Fitzjohns on two site-specific performance series. Their last full-length evening Skin, which premiered June 25th at Danspace Project in St. Marks Church in-the-Bowery, was met with an abundance of success and positive accolades, and will tour to the West Coast in Spring 2016.

As BC + A has experienced rapid growth over the past year, both publically and artistically, the Director of Development will play a crucial role in implementing a long-term fundraising strategy to sustain our upward trajectory. This position will entail overseeing all fundraising initiatives for Bryn Cohn + Artists, with primary focus on grantwriting, foundation appeals, individual and institional giving and special events. 

Responsibilities:

Correspond with Staff, Artistic Directors and Board of Directors to develop clear and targeted goals.

Write and prepare grants, foundation proposals and letters of appeal.

Cultivate creative planning in acquiring new individual, foundational, and corporate support.

Mange donor base and maintain relationships with existing and new patrons.

Research prospective opportunities that are in correspondence with Bryn Cohn + Artists’ mission.

Identify new community partners, sponsors, publicity and local funding sources.

Help to plan and devise fundraising events and special experiences for our donors.

Qualifications:

Candidates should be creative individuals with dedication, ambition, and a passion for the arts, and someone who thrives in a role of leadership. This position provides an opportunity to be an instrumental part of a fastly growing organization and to exercise a myriad of skills as BC + A continues to expand as a thriving presence in the dance community.

Experience: 

2 – 3 years of experience working for a reputable non-profit organization in the areas of grantwriting and/or fundraising, preferably within the performing arts.

Ability to work independently, adhere to deadlines, and maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Transfer creative and innovative ideas into clear and effective planning.

Superb writing and communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop, iMovie and/or Final Cut Pro.
