Participants for Experimental Movement Piece
Seeking participants for "Eutopia," an experimental performance celebrating the feminine. Seeking dancers and participants of all shapes, sizes, colors, genders.
Do you have to be a dancer? No. The movement is going to be very simple and prompt based (i.e. walk in a circle until you hear the sound of a cymbal crash, wave your arms in the air, etc.).
Do you have to be female/female identifying/a woman? No. You don’t need to be female to celebrate the feminine presence in your life. We’re interested in all types of persons with all types of bodies.
The goal is not to make a statement about what femininity 'is,' but rather to create the space for all persons to express and celebrate their own relationship with femininity, like a birthday party for the feminine energy. This piece is in conjunction with the opening of the Vanderbilt Republic’s group show 'Eutopia,' stemming from the idea of a perfect world as an attainable goal. We believe 'Eutopia' is equality. We believe equality is attainable. We believe we need to make space for the feminine.
Time committment is one day only: June 11th from 2:30-6:30PM at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center on Staten Island. Participants will recieve an video outlining the movement no later than June 8th and we'll do one walk-thru on the day of.
Please respond to thatchrisherde@gmail.com with the following: name, previous dance or performing experience (if any), preferred pronoun, and a note on your relationship to femininity (be as brief or as expansive as you like).
