Seeking Professional Dancers & Teaching Artists to join ClancyWorks Dance Company

*ClancyWorks partners with Americorps, as a site for teaching artists.  Being a member of Americorps allows a teaching artist to receive health insurance and college tuition stipend awards in additional to a financial stipend. ClancyWorks Dance Company, now in it's 17th season, is seeking professional dancers and/or teaching artists for 2017/2018.

Join us on Sunday, July 30th from 10 am to 12 noon for a 2-hr contemporary dance & partnering workshop that serves as an audition for this D.C. based dance company. 

Contracts are available for professional dancers that include paid rehearsals, performances, teaching and professional development opportunities.

Dancers with teaching experience are encouraged to apply, especially if you have experience teaching Hip Hop, Step, African and/or Latin Dance to K-12.

The Washington Post has described Adrienne Clancy as a "wizard of invention," and her choreography as "a tour de force of unpredictable partnering."

The company's outstanding skill lies in its ability to combine physically demanding, powerful movement with the sensitive portrayal of cultural nuances and personal emotions.

ClancyWorks Dance Company is an ensemble of contemporary dance artists, based in the greater Washington, DC area and founded in 2001. We present dynamic partnering work that reflects our powerful aesthetic and social vision, to form trust within a framework of diversity. In addition, ClancyWorks commissions works from guest choreographers, including Barbara Mahler, Adriane Fang, Bill Evans and more!

Registration/Self Warm-up: 9:30 am - 10 am
Audition: 10 am - 12 noon

Dancers should have a strong background in contemporary modern dance with an interest in partnering and exploring ideas analytically as well as physically, the ability to improvise is also important, and a diverse dance background of multiple forms is preferred.   To get a sense of our work, please look at please visit our website's video gallery.

>  ClancyWorks is located in the greater Washington, DC area. Dancers (non-teaching artists) must be willing to travel to the area on a periodic basis for performance opportunities, rehearsals, etc.  Teaching Artists must be willing to relocate and become a part of the local dance community.

>  Contracts are up to 12 months, with the possibility for renewal. We are looking for committed professionals who want to be a part of the growth.

>  2017-2018 season includes Formal Concerts, Touring Experiences, Guest Choreographers as well as Arts in Education Residencies and School Assemblies throughout the Greater Washington, DC area.

>  Award-winning choreography from Dr. Adrienne Clancy and other guest Choreographers.

>  Dancers are paid at a competitive wage, in some cases up to $500/week, depending on role within the company, experience within the industry, and growth potential as part of ClancyWorks Dance. Dancers can increase their income by teaching in our Arts in Education Programs and subsequently receive Teaching Artist professional development and training to support their growth as arts educators.
