INTERNSHIP FOR INSITU SITE-SPECIFIC DANCE FESTIVAL

| WHO WE ARE:

INSITU is a unique, two-day dance festival featuring 24 choreographers who present new, site-specific works in four public parks along the Long Island City waterfront. The 2018 Festival is scheduled to take place in early August. Through free outdoor dance performances and community workshops, INSITU encourages residents and audiences to discover their neighborhood through dance and strengthen the relationship to their community.

- reliable, committed & organized

- passionate about the arts, dance and social practice

- positive & self-motivated

- confident and friendly personality

- strong written and interpersonal communication skills

- social media savvy

- knowledgeable in graphic design and photo editing (proficient in photoshop, in design)

- knowledgeable in video editing software

- fundraising and previous arts administration and/or dance production experience a plus

- proactive with ideas and opinions

 

| RESPONSIBILITIES:

The 2017 INSITU INTERN will work closely with artistic director and producer and will assist in general administrative and operational activities such as:

- coordination of artist selection process

- correspondence with community partners, donors/sponsors, artists

- help plan and coordinate fundraising activities

- research and organize grant and sponsorship opportunities

- coordination and minor editing of photography/videography

- distribution of marketing materials

- database management

- an understanding of what it takes to plan and execute a large scale dance festival.

- possibility to participate and perform in community outreach events

- get access and connection to many Queens-based arts organizations, press contacts and community leaders

- College credit is available upon request and we will provide recommendation letters and references.

 

| COMMITMENT:

Minimum 3 months, extensions through the festival preferred

Approximately 10 hours per week

Schedule and weekly hours are flexible. Possibility to work remotely.
