SOAK is a presenting series of various performances and training in theater, butoh, dance, music, and performance art. SOAK seeks to broaden the perceptions of our artists and audiences with work that is experimental, rigorous, and thought-provoking. The festival showcases works by international, local, and fellow artists; and blends them together in a melange that inspires audiences, invigorates artists, and stimulates the community surrounding LEIMAY’s activities.

LEIMAY has hosted the SOAK successfully over the last six years. SOAK 2018 will take place during one week in June (exact dates to be announced soon). This year, we are hosting an open call to connect and support a new batch of talented artists; bringing in fresh perspectives and creative ideas to the community.

Your proposed work must be:

1. suitable for proscenium stage setting

2. body-rooted

3. Interdisciplinary - combining at least two disciplines

4. Both finished and in-progress works are welcome

5.Finished length should be 10-15 minutes

Basic Info/Technical Specs:

Limited tech time availability. LEIMAY will provide the theater venue and fixed general light plot. A video projector with a set focus and a full PA system will also be available. No other technical equipment will be available for use unless you provide and operate that equipment independently and within your allotted tech time. The stage floor dimensions are approximately 30’x30’.

Artists will receive a stipend of $100.
