BAX Youth Education Teaching Artist Application and Audition Description 2018

BAX Education is excited to announce its annual audition for new teaching artists interested in teaching during the 2018/19 school year. Participation in the audition is by invitation only. To apply, please review the instructions below.
 

BAX | Brooklyn Arts Exchange's Education Department offers a broad range of youth programs (ages 5-18 years) in tumbling, dance, and theater, as well as early childhood classes (ages 1-5 years). BAX offers competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience. BAX faculty contracts are for the full school year (i.e. September 2018-June 2019). Faculty are required to attend (at least) two annual BAX professional developments, one in September and one in the spring, for which they are compensated, as well as attend bi-annual student concert performances (early/mid-December and early/mid-June). BAX Youth Education 2018 Teaching Artist Audition: Tuesday, May 1st from 9am-12:30pm. From 12:30-1pm there will be an optional time for questions and answers with Education Dept. staff/faculty.

To apply for a faculty position for the 2018/19 school year, please submit a one page cover letter describing your interest in teaching at BAX, past teaching experiences with youth and areas of expertise, and a resume/CV to education@bax.org by March 27, 2018. Your application will be reviewed by the Education Department and competitive candidates will be notified if they are being invited to the audition by April 6. If invited to the audition, you will be asked to submit a sample lesson plan by April 20. This sample lesson will be facilitated at the audition for other applicants and potentially some current BAX faculty. (More specific instructions about the sample lesson will be provided upon invitation.) Audition participants must commit to the entire audition duration, no exceptions.
