THE CREATORS COLLECTIVE’s Winter 2018 Call for Artists

THE CREATORS COLLECTIVE seeks artists to participate in one or more of our upcoming events. Information about each event is listed below. The deadline for all of the events below is Saturday, September 30th. Artists are encouraged to apply for multiple events. We are curating artists for the following events:

Performance dates: Thursdays, February 8th and March 22nd
Venues: The New Work Project in Williamsburg and Halyards in Gowanus

Over two evenings this winter/spring, we will present events at different venues across Brooklyn that feature performances/presentations from artists of different disciplines, followed by a conversation between artists and audience, moderated by THE CREATORS COLLECTIVE. The conversation will focus on different elements in our mission statement, with a special focus on space.

To submit work, please send an email to submit@thecreatorscollective.org with your name, artistic discipline, and two work samples (specifying if either is the work you wish to perform).

Collective Storytelling: Obsessions

Free Teen Writing Workshop
Dates: 6 week workshop starting Wednesday, February 7th
Venue: Brooklyn Public Library Main Branch at Grand Army Plaza

Performance Project: Auditions
Date: Friday, February 16th | 6-8:30PM
Venue: Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Park Slope, Brooklyn

Performance Project: Rehearsals & Performance
Dates: Mid-March through mid-May
Venue: TBA in Brooklyn, NY

Obsessions is a multimedia performance work collaboratively developed between teens and professional artists based on collected memories around the theme of obsessions.  This project will begin with a six week teen writing workshop followed by an interdisciplinary performance project bringing together teen and professional artists to collaborate on a devised work to be performed in Brooklyn, NY in May 2018. This project aims to explore common themes from a pivotal time in adolescence through movement, language and film.  

Opportunities for teens ages 14-18 include: 
1. Free 6-week teen writing workshop beginning Wednesday, February 7th
2. Free performance project where we will devise a multidisciplinary performance work based on the writing from the writing workshop and a collection of memories about obsessions.
