The classic story of love and betrayal comes to life in a 360 degree explosion of music, dance, variety theater, and  nightlife at the Public Arts. 

Immersive theater done as never before, set in Havana’s 1950’s Tropicana, the evening unfolds around the audience.  Carmen and her jealous lover Don Jose, his rival Escamillo, specialty dances and a live band bring their passionate story to life among the crowd. 

CARMEN (20’s) is the newest addition to the cabaret and the subject of adoration and jealousy. Flirty and coy with the staff and patrons, she is engaged to Don Jose, but behaves as though she belongs to no one, wielding her seductive power over anyone that can give her what she wants.

DON JOSE (20’s-early 30’s) is Carmen’s fiancé. The club’s doorman, he is charismatic and sexy, and if you're on his good side, he'll trea you royally. Women love him and men want to be him. He is extremely jealous and easily angered, drinking incessantly to cover up his insecurities. When not on duty he lurks in the shadows watching Carmen’s every move.

ESCAMILLO  (20’s-early 30’s) is a boxing champion, hotshot high roller and the club whale. He wants the biggest and best table and  flaunts his wealth for all to see. He comes across to some as brash or over-confident and self-absorbed. He’s a bit of a local celebrity and the life and soul of the party. He loves winding people up.

FEATURED/ENSEMBLE  (20-30’s)

This is a dance show! Dancers MUST have a strong technical base. Salsa, ballroom, contemporary and partnering skills a plus! 
Audience interaction skills and comfort with improvisation required as the cast is immersed within the audience.
