Afro-Cuban Teaching Artist Opportunity

About the Organization:

Pentacle’s mission is to design and provide unique and robust programs of support for performing artists at critical stages in their careers. At the same time, Pentacle enriches the cultural landscape through cross-sector partnerships in multiple communities across NYC and the U.S. Since 1976, Pentacle has been a model in the arts administration field, enabling performing artists to focus on what they do best—create art and engage with audiences.

About the Position:

Pentacle is seeking a project-based Afro-Cuban Teaching Artist to teach in one of our Education & Outreach In-School programs. The weekly classes will start in January 2019 and run through March 2019.

 

Responsibilities include:

-Educating students about the Afro-Cuban dance style

-Teaching weekly technique classes for a 3-month residency

-Attending planning and post-mortem sessions with the school teacher and Pentacle administrators

 

Requirements:

We are looking for a Teaching Artist who has experience in public schools or community programs and has strong class management skills. Pay is competitive.
