Ballet Hispánico - Community Arts Partnerships Intern
Position Description
Ballet Hispánico is seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join its Community Arts Partnerships (CAP) team. The CAP Intern is an individual with a passion for dance education and arts administration who will support the organization, planning, and execution of CAP programs. The CAP internship is an opportunity to gain valuable experience in community arts programming and to learn about the inner workings of a nonprofit arts organization. This is a part-time, unpaid internship with the possibility of academic credit for a currently enrolled student.
About the Organization
Ballet Hispánico, America's leading Latino dance organization, has been bringing individuals and communities together to celebrate and explore Latino cultures through dance since its founding by National Medal of Arts recipient Tina Ramirez nearly 50 years ago. Today, Ballet Hispánico is led by acclaimed choreographer and former Company member Eduardo Vilaro, whose vision of social equity, cultural identity, and quality arts education for all drives its programs. A role model in and for the Latino community, Ballet Hispánico inspires creativity and social awareness in our neighborhoods and across the country by providing access to exemplary works of art and arts education.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize costumes/props for school residencies and community events
- Update CAP residency schedules, calendars, and databases
- Draft parent letters, surveys, and other supporting materials for CAP programs
- Track communication between our community partners and school administrators
- Maintain photo and video archives
- Aid in survey distribution and data collection
- Perform light clerical duties
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced office environment
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
- Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
