CoreDance Contemporary Workshop & Audition with Artistic Director Rebecca McCormac

When:  Saturday June 1st, 2019 - 10:30AM to 1:30PM

Where:  GIBNEY 280 Studio Y (Downtown)

CoreDance Contemporary’s Workshop/Audition with Artistic Director Rebecca McCormac, will be an advanced open contemporary session, which distinctively blends her Australian training and heritage with the fast paced environment that is New York City.  Her technique is self-devised, but heavily rooted in the techniques of Cunningham and Graham with a strong focus on floor work, partnering and the use of the core.  The Workshop/Audition will commence with a warm up and then continued exploration of weightiness both in and out of the floor, culminating in the learning and finally demonstration of company repertoire.  Key focus points throughout the session will be; giving weight, joint folding, hip flexor flexion, partnering and the use of physical contact to provide the starting point for exploration through movement improvisation. 

10:00AM-10:30AM - Sign In 

10:30AM-12:30PM - Master Class

12:30PM-1:30PM – Audition

Workshop Fee:  $25.00

The first two hours will be a master class, followed by a one-hour audition.

Prospective applicants should have a strong technical background in both Ballet and Modern Dance forms and have professional performance experience.  Proficiency in partnering and contact improvisation are a plus.
