Hip Hop, commercial and musical theater choreographers needed

Mare Nostrum Elements is seeking choreographers for the seventh edition of the EMERGING CHOREOGRAPHER SERIES presented in partnership with LaGuardia Performing Arts Center-CUNY. 

The Emerging Choreographer Series is a FREE, fully curated, two-month residency-style crash course in self-producing that includes a space grant, career development consultations, and performance opportunities providing up-and-coming choreographers with the tools to create, develop and premiere a new work. 

Their works will premiere at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center on Feb. 24 & 25, 2020.

Emerging or aspiring choreographers of all ages are welcome!!!

All dance styles and fusions will be equally considered. Hip Hop, commercial and dance theater dance makers are strongly encouraged to audition on this date.

 

DATE: Sunday September 29

TIME: 7:30-10pm

VENUE: Broadway Dance Center, NYC

The audition will follow the structure of MNE signature method The Wave Within and will be conducted in an interactive manner, no need to bring a pre-existing work or own dancers.

PROGRAM DETAILS:

> 8-week rehearsals: January 3 – Feb 22, 2020

> 2 performances at LPAC: Feb. 24 & 25, 2020

> Weekly meetings with MNE’s directors and fellow choreographers

> UP TO 50 HOURS of FREE rehearsal space

> Production element consultations with professionals in the field

> Stipend to cover basic expenses (dancers, costumes, props etc.)

> 1 informal showing with panel of professionals for feedback and advice

> Opportunities for future commissions, festival participations and more
