Applications Open for RETREAT & RESTORE: A New Pilot Residency Opportunity for NYC Dance Artists by the Petronio Residency Center

Deadine for Application: February 8, 2021

The Petronio Residency Center is thrilled to announce the expansion of its acclaimed residency program with a new “by application” pilot residency specifically for NYC dance artists called RETREAT & RESTORE AT PRC.

Since 2018, Petronio Residency Center (PRC) has addressed the shifting field of American dance by offering on-site creative residencies through its award and partner based programs. PRC is nestled within a 175-acre haven perched in Greene County’s Catskill Mountains. Residencies allow artists time for creation, discussion, and critical thinking, free from the mandates and responsibilities of daily life and any specific deliverables. In the time of COVID, PRC has significantly increased this commitment by adding two additional residencies and a new application process for them. We recognize that many dance artists are dangerously under-resourced and it is our hope that this restorative and creative time can assist them to weather a most challenging period.

Awarded artists and up to four other collaborators will receive a week long residency at the Petronio Residency Center in Round Top, N.Y.

We provide full room and board, stipend to lead artist, car rental for week, unlimited use of house and studio for a one week period between March 28 – June 19, 2021. Weeks are offered from Sunday dinner through Saturday breakfast OR Monday dinner through Sunday breakfast.

We are proud to join with peer Hudson Valley cultural institutions including Catskill Mountain Foundation, Kaatsbaan Cultural Park, Mount Tremper Arts, Art Omi, Wave Farm, PS21, The Bridge Street Theater and other organizations to support dance makers at a time when they, as well as arts organizations small, medium and large who are facing such huge uncertainty.
