Summer Dance Teaching Artists

Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre/Notes in Motion is seeking experienced Dance Teaching Artists for current opportunitieis as well as ongoing dance and movement residencies and after-school programs in the NYC Public Schools (remote and in-person). These are paid teaching opportunities to inspire young people with dance in underserved schools throughout the five boroughs of NYC.

Qualified candidates should have experience in a variety of dance forms including ballet, modern, jazz, tap, ballroom, hip hop, African, Latin, Indian, and creative dance training as well as a background in performance, improvisation, and choreography. 2-3 years experience teaching in NYC public schools (or similar settings) pre-K, elementary, middle, and/or high school populations. Experience teaching theater, yoga, martial arts, and/or gymnastics also A PLUS! Bilingual in Spanish or Chinese a plus as well.

LESSON PLAN should be a creative dance (in any dance style) teaching lesson plan (a 50-minute session approximately) that could be appropriate for grades K-5. Please pick a grade level within that range, we are looking for something dynamic and active, but also focused. Include learning objective, vocabulary, description of activities, and guiding question(s).
