Norte Maar announces a call for choreographers for its 9th annual season of CounterPointe: new work by women choreographers and their collaborations with artists.

Performances are March 11-13, 2022 at the Mark O'Donnell Theater at the Actor’s Fund Arts Center, Brooklyn. We are interested in producing a program which represents the cultural diversity of NYC. There is no house style, though the pointe shoe must be at the heart of the work.

Interested women choreographers should be based in the NYC-metro area and have a track record of presenting work. You must have interest in collaborating with a visual artist. If selected you will be paired with a collaborator. Norte Maar will curate this pairing. You will have approximately 2 months to create a new work in collaboration. Tech week begins March 7, 2022. Choreographers and artists each receive a fee.

Please email a short cover letter addressing your interest in collaboration, and links to recent choreography--please include a link to works on pointe or express why you are interested and capable of working with pointe. Please also include a link to a work for stage, this will not be a virtual program. (Please do not send video attachments) to: nortemaar@gmail.com. Selections will be made on a first come / first served basis. With deadline for receipt of submissions December 15, 2021.

Additional details:
Choreographers are responsible for selection and rehearsal of their own dancers. A fee is provided to the choreographer. (It is expected that dancers will be paid by the choreographer.)

Works commissioned shall not have been presented in the NYC/metro area within 2 months before or 2 months after the CounterPointe program.
