Calpulli Mexican Dance Company is holding an audition for ballet folklórico dancers and/ or individuals with percussive footwork experience. The company is looking to hire part-time and project-based dancer positions for 4 women and 1 man for its performance company. In particular, we are interested in dancers with daytime availability for school-time and educational performances in the NYC metropolitan area in addition to productions and touring performances. Calpulli seeks dancers with ballet folklórico experience; experience in ballet and modern dance techniques is a plus but not required. Women with daytime availability for assemblies and school performances are encouraged to audition.

To register for the audition, please send your headshot, resume, and any video sample of your work to Company Manager Leigh Ann Gann lgann@calpullidance.org prior to the audition. Please bring folklórico or character shoes. After the audition, selected dancers may be invited for a rehearsal with the company.

 

Calpulli Mexican Dance Company’s rehearsals follow this general schedule in Manhattan:

 

Sunday: 10 am - 2 pm

Monday: 6 - 10 pm

Wednesday: 6 - 9:30 pm

 

Dancers should be available for all or almost all rehearsals. All rehearsals and performances with Calpulli are compensated.
