Hip Hop Dance Teaching Artist

 


ACCENT DANCE NYC is seeking experienced Hip Hop Dance Teaching Artists for placement in the current school semester and next year in dance residencies in NYC Public Schools, and in lower Westchester.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
Hip Hop Dance Teaching Artists will lead in-school or after-school dance residencies/ programs ending with a culminating performance in public and charter schools in NYC, as well as at community organizations in lower Westchester. 
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE:
1 to 3 days per week available between 8am-3pm (in-school programs) and/or 2:30pm-6pm (after-school programs) for placement. At this time, we are looking for someone who specifically has experience teaching HIP HOP dance, as well as other dance forms. Candidates also should have experience teaching in NYC public schools (or similar settings) with elementary, middle, and/or high school populations. Candidates should be fingerprinted with the NYC DoE.
PAY RATE: $100/hour + depending on experience.
ACCENT DANCE NYC:
is a multicultural and multidisciplinary dance initiative committed to exploring the artistic, cultural, and humanistic connections among people of all backgrounds through dance. Since 2018, we have brought dance programming to thousands of students in public and charter schools in New York City and lower Westchester, with a focus on providing arts education to students who do not have regular access to it. We also are a professional dance company which features a multicultural team of artists performing works of ballet, tango, salsa, hip hop, tap, jazz, ballroom dance, contemporary, modern and beyond. Our educational dance residencies occur both during the school day (between 8am-3pm) and after school (3pm-6pm). Our dance performances happen in various venues both inside and out and can include educational and experiential components.

• Detailed CV including TEACHING RESUME, highlighting HIP HOP teaching experience.
• One or more teaching videos, preferably teaching HIP HOP.
• Brief sample HIP HOP LESSON PLAN setting forth a successful dance lesson (45-60 minutes) and indicate what age/grade it is targeted for.
• Brief cover letter in the body of the email highlighting the following:
• Interest in Accent Dance NYC’s mission and teaching dance in public school settings.
• Brief summary of dance teaching expertise, such as “I have 4 years’ experience teaching Hip Hop in schools and also have experience teaching Contemporary, African, Tango and Ballet.”
• Note your current and upcoming availability based on the schedule above, such as “I am available Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays between 8am-6pm.”
