KnJ Theater Crew

The KnJ Theater at Peridance Center in Manhattan is looking for a theater crew and Assistant to the Theater Manager for its Fall/Spring Season 2023/2024, starting October. The position is open only to those currently living in New York City and the Tri-State area. A minimum six-month commitment is required. Applicants must be allowed to work legally in the US. have a strong command of English, and be comfortable doing manual work, such as lifting risers and heavy material. Knowledge about the technical aspects of theater is a plus but not required. 

 

Production weekend hours will vary depending on each particular event and may occur during holidays. Special events may happen during weekdays.

The schedule will be sent with a minimum of one month notice. All shifts per weekend are required (including late nights and possible holidays). Shifts may include ushering, which requires a presentable appearance and excellent customer service. 

Know that you won’t necessarily be scheduled for every event or every shift.

Each shift is more or less 3 hours long.

 

Typical schedule: 

Fridays usually begin at 6:30pm and end at 12:30am.

Saturdays start at 3:30pm until 10(30)pm, but can go until 12:00am

Sunday ranges depending on the number and time of performances (schedule subject to change).

 

Compensation:

$16/h + unlimited dance classes the following week following your shift(s) (Classes not taken during that week are lost and cannot be postponed or moved to another week)
 

Requirements: 

- Be available on weekends and sometimes holidays;

- Comfortable doing manual labor and assisting the theater crew during Tech, Theater Build, performance and Breakdown;

 

Desired Qualities:

- Team player;

- Open to learn new skills;

- Customer service;

- Common sense;

- Presentable appearance;

- Learn quickly and able to jump into the work;
