Lighting + Video Supervisor

 

The Lighting and Video Supervisor is a hands-on, highly technical, position responsible for leading teams of Lighting and Video personnel in the safe installation, operation, implementation, maintenance and repair of all aspects of the lighting and video designs of the company’s repertoire.

Start Date: ASAP - Rehearsals to begin immediately in Decemeber through the end of January, with a 1-week tour to Nebraska January 22-28th. Work beyond January is TBD.
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

In conjunction with the Company Scenography, the Lighting & Video Supervisor implements and maintains Kinetic Light’s repertory lighting, video, and projection designs. These are the essential functions of the job.
 

? From design documentation develops shop orders, shipping and load-in/load out schedule, and supervises shop pack.

? Leads contractors and local crew in lighting hangs, lighting focuses and strikes; creates technical plans for installation of show-specific lighting projects; builds, constructs, and installs show-specific specialty lighting elements.

? Leads contractors and local crew in projector installation, video alignment, blending and mapping, running, maintenance, and strikes; creates technical plans for installation of show-specific video equipment.

? Programs/runs lighting consoles for technical rehearsals and performances.

? Integrates lighting, video and audio systems as needed

? Provides programming support to the Lighting and Video Designer during technical rehearsals.

? Plans and leads work calls in consultation with the Lighting & Video Designer, and Stage Manager.

? Prioritizes notes and programming calls in consultation with the Lighting & Video Designer, and Stage Manager depending on show and other departments’ needs, during the tech process.

? Trains and supervises local crew in day-to-day lighting SOPs and the proper operation of lighting, video and effects equipment.

? Develops data distribution networks and circuiting plans for Kinetic Light shows.

? Creates/maintains necessary lighting and video related paperwork, working drawings, procedural documents, etc. for successful and efficient touring.

? Works with the Lighting Designer, Production Manager and Production Stage Manager to create load-in/load-out procedures, documentation, and checklists.

? Works with other production departments, to plan and execute interdepartmental, show-related projects.

? Upholds best practices of safety and good stagecraft in conjunction with Production Manager and other stakeholders.

? Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications & Skills:


Work Experience:

Five (5) years of professional theatrical lighting experience with an emphasis in programming

ETC Eos Family Consoles; Two (2) years experience supervising staff.


Qualifications/skills:

? Expert level knowledge and ability to program ETC EOS Family (EOS Ti, GIO and ION) lighting control consoles.

? Expert knowledge of industry standard conventional and automated lighting equipment.

? Expert knowledge of industry standard operating procedures regarding theatrical lighting.

? Expert knowledge of Watchout software

? Expert knowledge of electrical theory and electrical safety.

? Detailed knowledge of Lightwright software.

? Working knowledge of theatrical video projection systems

? Working knowledge of Watchout media server software

Working knowledge of Vectorworks software.

? Working knowledge of NEC guidelines.

? Working knowledge of e-mail and cloud-based collaboration software.

? Ability to read and create lighting plots, typical theatrical lighting paperwork and other typical theatrical technical drawings.

? Ability to effectively lead a team of professionals with diverse backgrounds.

? Ability to build and foster strong working relationships with artists, contractors, and local crew

? Comfortable working with simultaneously rigid and dynamic schedules and procedures,

? Strong written and verbal communication skills.

? Ability to handle stressful situations to achieve successful outcomes.


Physical Ability:

Must be able to regularly climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and frequently lift up to 50

lbs. Must be comfortable regularly working at heights of up to 45’ in backstage spaces,

personnel lifts, and ladders, wearing fall arrest harnesses. Must be able to frequently squat,

kneel, or crouch while maintaining position, and stand, walk and sit for up to 10 hours per day.


Other Skills, Ability and/or Knowledge:

? Extensive working knowledge of lighting/show control & wireless networks;

? Follows government, city, venue, and Company anti-COVID-19 safety protocols.

? Complies with all technical and house specific requirements of the venue.

? Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the shows; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training.
 

Hours Requirements:

This position may require frequent overtime, evening and weekend work. Hiring is ASAP - with rehearsals to begin immediately in Decemeber through January, with a 1-week tour to Nebraska January 22-28th. Work beyond January is TBD.


Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

? Three (3) years demonstrable experience as a dedicated EOS Family Programmer

? Working knowledge of various show control protocols (OSC, Midi, SMPTE);

 

Salary Range:

? $1700 a week on tour

? $35 an hour for rehearsals/administrative work
